Leverage on your best
Peter Drucker said that “One should waste as little effort as possible on improving areas of low competence. It takes far more energy & work to improve from incompetence to mediocrity than it takes to improve from first-rate performance to excellence”.
I have seen a family member been always failing at school year after year. And her parents told her that she should study more, and pay less attention to her hobbies (reading & writing).
That very same person began studying at university what she felt was right for her. And she never has failed anymore. She even is one of the brilliantest students in her class.
Is she now a “good” student? No. She is just leveraging what she is good at. She is just studying what she loves best.
As a leader, you must learn to delegate all those areas where you are “failing” or are not “passionate” enough. And you must focus on what you really shine. Other’s will then follow you naturally.
