Leadership Myths
In the company I work, they consider a “leader” someone who has people in their charge. A leader is for them someone who has “authority” over other people.
Here is the first myth:
- Leaders may hold important positions, but a position doesn’t make a leader
Other prevalescent myth’s I encounter:
- Leaders may manage, but a managers aren’t necessarily leaders
- Leaders may be entrepreneurial, but entrepreneurs may not be good leaders
- Leaders may be pioneer, but pioneers may not be leaders either.
So, what makes a leader so special?
A leader is someone who has a dream that defines “WHO” he is. He is passionate about his dream. And he is able to inspire others by building meaningful relationships. He inspires others by being authentic and by empowering others.
There is another myth:
- Leaders are born
We are all leaders if we tap into our passion and use our strenghts to manifest it in the world. We may have more or less followers, but the essence of leadership will be there. If we are born with a leadership potential of, say, 100, and we are now only manifesting 20…coaching can help you tap into that other 80.
