2009: Where is the opportunity?
Do you feel like me as if we have come across a “cul de sac” (dead-end street)? As if the route we were traveling has no exit? As if the path we were massively traveling has suddenly been covered by a thick fog?
What’s happening here? Well, many things at many levels. At the economic level we are living the CONSEQUENCE of an imbalance at the SOCIAL level. And at the SOCIAL level we are living an imbalance that’s happening at the PLANETARY level…
- What’s happening at a Planetary level? Global Warming caused by an excess of CO2.
- What’s happening at a Social Level? We value the short term pleasure more than the long term fulfillment.
- What’s happening then, as a consequence, in the Economic level? According to Harry S. Dent, we are living the burst of the Financial (Stocks) Bubble together with the burst of the Real State bubble and together with the probable burst of the commodity bubble in late 2009…
I will not explain the interrelationship between the planetary –> social –> economic level. I will only give my five cents of where I think is the Opportunity in 2009 in the three levels, not only the economical.
- On the economical level the opportunity is on investing in green technologies and services directed towards an aging population.
- On the social level, we have the opportunity to re-think the values of our culture. May be we discover that we have lost touch with important values that were once pillars of our cultures…values like solidarity, effort, discipline,…
- On a planetary level, the opportunity is to reduce the waste of drinkable water. Learn how you too can save money and reduce your own contribution to global warming by making climate-friendly choices each day.
On a more spiritual side of the story, 2009 is a great opportunity to SLOW DOWN AND LOOK WITHIN. It’s a time to find within oneself the answers to any question or problem. It’s not a time for seeking answers and solutions “outside” (in our government financial aid plan, our company, our family or friends…). These are times for going deeper into our hearts. For that we need to learn how to observe our thinking process (use any meditative technique for that – discover “meditations for Busy People“).

The title is not important. It’s just a way to get your attention. This is what newspapers are doing everyday.
And if you analyze any mass media newspaper, you’ll find out that on average 80% of news are non-sense, 19% are popular common sense and only 1% are educational or inspiring.
By non-sense I mean stuff that conveys negative feelings (frustration, anger, fear…).
The most strange thing of all this is that 80% of people read this sort of news. It seems as if they need to feed their emotional system with negative emotions. It’s like the smoker who needs more poison in his blood. The smoker’s sensation of “I miss the poison” is tougher to bear than the sensation of “I poison myself”. As for the reader of common newspapers…I wonder what might happen if, all of a sudden, he stopped reading all sort of news that carry negative energy…May be he would feel his own inner negativity? And the newspaper is used as a way to “justify” his own misery? I don’t know…but I believe that most people are not aware of the impact of what they read has on them. Most people are unconscious of their own rotten patterns. That’s why there is so much frustration in this world.
We are like an open system that interacts with other systems. A cake is a system that’s made of ingredients and the quality of the ingredients and how they are mixed determines the quality of the cake. The same is true with ourselves. What we allow into our system (what we see, hear, eat, think, touch and smell…) determine what we give back to other systems. If we want to increase the well-being in others we must take care of what kind of information we eat (and what sort digestion we have after eating it).
I prefer personally to read news that inspire. You can find more sources here. I prefer to eat healthy food…
